  • Baptism is the very first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic community.A person needs to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism before preparing for First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation.

    Get Baptized at Maternity of Mary

    1. Parents of infants and children under 7 years old must participate in a Baptism Class. Call the Parish Office for information on when the next class will be: 651-489-8825.

    2. Once class is completed, a priest or staff member will help you schedule your child's Baptism.

    3. Baptisms will be celebrated after Mass, typically on the 3rd Sunday of each month.

    You must be a registered member of Maternity of Mary to have your child baptized.

  • Our First Communion program coincides within our Family Formation gatherings. The meetings are generally the 1st Sunday of the month from October-May.

    Parents introduce their children to the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the same time as First Eucharist. Being a registered parishioner and enrollment in a our year-long family formation program is required. A family-oriented preparation process is offered to assist parents with children in grade two. Preparation includes an introductory parent session completion of a home study workbook, attendance at our monthly Family Formation program and a parent/child retreat experience. First Reconciliation is celebrated in late January.

    The second half of the First Sacrament preparation year is focused on preparing for First Eucharist, which is celebrated during Sunday Mass in May.  Being a registered parishioner and enrollment in our year-long family formation program is required. Preparation takes place primarily in the home with parent guidance, usually while a child is in the second grade. A family-oriented preparation process is offered to assist parents with children in grade two. Preparation includes an introductory parent session, completion of a home study workbook, attendance at our monthly Family Formation program and a parent/child retreat experience and a rehearsal.

  • The sacrament of Confirmation completes the grace of the Sacraments of Initiation by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or “confirm” the baptized in union with Christ and equip them for full, active participation in the worship of the Church.  

    Join our Confirmation Program!

    Our Confirmation program is open to those entering 8th grade through High School. Sessions are Sunday mornings from 9-10:15am on the first Sunday of the month.

    Students preparing for Confirmation will participate in a curriculum that teaches the basics of the Sacrament of Confirmation, finds them an active role in the Church, engages them in service hours, and gives them a strong sense of community. They will also attend a retreat that enriches their life of prayer.

    Adults Seeking Confirmation:
    Catholic adults over the age of 18 who have never received the Sacrament of Confirmation should contact the parish office at 651-489-8825.

  • Through Sacramental Marriage, a man and a woman enter a covenant of love and mission. This covenant is their response to God’s call to holiness, and is a sign of Christ’s love in the world.

    Want to get married at Maternity of Mary?

    1. Contact the parish priest at least six months before your wedding. Enrolling as a parishioner is required.

    2. Your priest will reach out about scheduling marriage preparation, which includes completion and discussion of the FOCCUS premarital inventory, attending a marriage preparation weekend, meeting with one of the priests, and preparing the wedding liturgy.

    If you were married outside the Catholic Church, you may seek for your union to be officially recognized by the Church. This is known as convalidation of marriage, and allows you to receive the fullness of Sacraments and Grace.  

  • There is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive this Sacrament.

    A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient. The Sacrament may be repeated if the sick person recovers after the anointing but becomes ill once again, or if, during the same illness, the person’s condition becomes more serious. A person should be anointed before surgery when a dangerous illness is the reason for the intervention.
